The National cadet corps (NCC) is the part of Indian defence service with its headquarter at New Delhi . The NCC established during World war II. It is a mandatory service for the all youth . After Indian independence the NCC act 1948 has opened on volunteer basis for the students. The basic defence training is given to cadets through the Indian Army , the Indian Navy , the Indian Air force. These 3 services of defence develops the patriotist vision among the cadets. The basic initial training of NCC is to inculcate the qualities of ideal citizens be available always for nation service. The enrolled cadets took the training for 3 years by the Associate NCC Officer and Permanant Instructor staff from Army, Navy or Air force. The NCC provides modes of entry in Indian Defence. It gives training about personality development, leadership qualities, ideal citizenship which are useful to develop their potential and abilities , groom up as an ideal successful personality in society.
The NCC develops balance between physical and intellectual ability. The drill, obstacle training, rock climbing, scuba diving, mountaineering ,etc. boost the physical strength. While the institutional training like personality development , leadership qualities , national integration , health and hygiene , map reading develops the intellectual ability.
The various camps are organised by Central Government as well as state Government for the cadets. For keeping the harmony among the cadets at National level the NCC organisation IS divided in 17 directorates which admister the system for 28 states and 09 union territories. The 17 directorates has commanded by Lieutenant General. These directorate having groups for approximately 05to 06 districts. This NCC groups has commanded by Brigedier. The brigade is divided in 06 to 08 battalions , which are commanded by the Colonel. The one battalion is divided in 10 to 15 units at College level , which is commanded by the Associate NCC Officer having the rank of Lieutenant to Major.

National Cadet Corps ( Boys +Girls ) 05 Mah NCC Bn , Kolhapur.
The 05 Maharashtra NCC battalion , Kolhapur of boys is now the mix battalion for the boys and girls since 2016. The is started in 1980 in our institute. The NCC activities and accountability administred by the Associate NCC officer Dr V. M. Chavan , the former Pro vice chancellor Shivaji University Kolhapur. Letter the responsibilities was shoulder by captain Thorat , Captain V .N. Jadhav , Major A. M. mujawar , Major M .G . Gaikwad , Captain S.Y. Hongekar , lieutenant S . G. Gawade and now Lieutenant J. R. Bharamgonda.
NCC ( Girls ) 06 Mah Girls Bn NCC , Kolhapur.
NCC Girls Unit of Vivekanand college Kolhapur began in 1979 with the initativeness of Prin Amarsinh Rane . Initially , a limited number of vacancies were alloted and the cadets were attached to the Rajaram college Unit ,Kolhapur. Later in 1984 with interest of Prin Mrs. Vijaya Patil and Prof. Capt Ushaprabha Chavan, an independent unit of the college came into existence.
ANO Capt. Ushaprabha Chavan attended 1986 Republic Day camp as a member of Maharashtra NCC contingent, participated in the Youth Exchange Programme, Cananda. Later Capt. R.N. Pattanshetty shouldered the responsibility till 2007 . From 2007 Capt. Sunita Bhosale has taken charge of girls NCC Unit, participated as a member of Maharashtra NCC contigent at NCC National Games, Delhi; Republic Day Camp(RDC),Delhi (2015&2017); NIC Udaypur ; Spl NIC (Lakshadweep); Thal Sainik Camp(TSC), Delhi 2022 as a Maharashtra Contigent Commander.

Dipa Patil, Major Priyanka Khobre, State Police Add SP- Manisha Dubule, PI Jyoti Gadkari, Major Tejashri Patil, Jyoti Patil Child Development Project Officer, Major Namrata Talekar(army), Ms Radhika Khot( Mah Police); Pranali Wadkar ( Railway Police); Urmila Vandre (Agniveer).
