The department of Computer Science, Vivekanand College, Kolhapur was established in the year 1994. At present department is running B.Sc. Computer Science (UG) and M. Sc. Computer Science (PG) programs.

The strength of the department is Highly qualified and experienced staff. The faculty members are known for their valuable contribution in the field of Computer Science at National and International Level.

One Australian Innovation Patent is on the account of the department. 6 Scopus indexed research paper are published and 12+ research papers are published in UGC Approved Journals and Conferences in the last Five years. At Present, the department is collaborating with two Academic and Industrial Institutions under MOUs at National Level.

The Major research domain of the department are Human-Computer Interactions, Speech Signal Processing, Natural Language Processing, Image Processing & Pattern Recognition, Biomedical Imaging, Fuzzy Logic, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Remote Sensing and GIS. 

Department is supported by University Grants Commission (UGC) and Department of Science and Technology (DST-FIST), New Delhi.

The department is currently mobilizing a research grant of Rs. 3,90,000 (Rs. Three Lakhs Ninety Thousand) through various Major and Major research projects funded by University and UGC.
