Department of Chemistry

Chemistry is the study of atoms, molecules and materials - their properties, composition and reactions, and how chemical processes work in industrial contexts and in the environment around us. Chemistry has traditionally been divided into organic (organic compounds - containing carbon and hydrogen) and inorganic chemistry (chemistry that is not related to organic molecules) but the boundaries between the disciplines are not as clear these days.
The Department of Chemistry at Vivekanand established in the 1964. This is one of the largest science departments of the college. In its history of 58 years it has grown considerably. Department offers various certificate, UG and PG courses such as Soil and Water Analysis, Preparation of Household Chemicals, B.Sc. Chemistry, M.Sc.(Organic Chemistry), M.Sc. ( Inorganic Chemistry), M.Sc. (Analytical Chemistry).
