STRENGTHS

1) Experienced Faculty: The Botany Department boasts a team of highly experienced and dedicated faculty members who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the students.

2) Well-Equipped Laboratories: The department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, enabling students to conduct advanced research and experiments.

3) BEE LIVE (Biodiversity and Environmental Engagement):- Department actively works in natural conservation where spreading awareness regarding the protection of nature and biodiversity for a healthy environment is the main motive. Also, to protect the lands and waterways that are necessary for life. Environmental protection is the area of expertise of the department. Pollution, deforestation, species habitat loss, and climate change are among the issues the world is currently facing. We focus on emerging ideas such as ecosystem services, habitat restoration and climate adaptation. In other words we continue to compile the best available resources we use to inform and support our work.

4) Botanical Garden:   A well-devloped and maintained botanical garden.

WEAKNESSES

1) B.Sc. III is currently non-grantable.

2) No PG Department, while currently not hosting a postgraduate department, we continuously explore avenues for future expansion and development.

3) Our department currently lacks research projects. We aim to establish and promote research initiatives to drive innovation, enhance learning, and contribute meaningfully to our field's advancement.

4) The department is looking forward for developing a good spacious research laboratory.

OPPORTUNITIES

1) Collaborative Research: Collaborate with other academic institutions and research organizations to enhance research opportunities and funding.

2) Introducing PG departments will enable us to cater to the advanced educational needs of our students, allowing for specialized and in-depth study in plant sciences.

3) Organization of National and International level conferences.

4) Research Projects signifies an exciting opportunity for academic advancement and innovation by fostering an environment that encourages and supports research initiatives, we aim to cultivate a vibrant culture of exploration and discovery within our department.

CHALLENGES

1) Post covid pandemic students are seen opting for applied sciences and neglecting the basic yet very important sciences like botany.

2) Competition: Staying competitive and attracting top students in the field of botany amidst increasing competition from other subjects.

3) The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020's has become challenging for the department to make it understand for new students for them to adapt and imbibe the change and reroute the distracted students to basic sciences.

4) Attracting Research Funding: Facing challenges in securing external funding for research projects and initiatives.
