Mentor Mentee Scheme

Introduction:

The student is the soul of our education system. To enable students for facing global challenges, to meet local needs and to strengthen their abilities, skills. Competent mentoring system has been developed by the college. The mentoring policy strengthens the bond between teacher and students with the view to make teaching and learning process lively and fruitful. The mentoring system aimed at identifying and honing the potential and uniqueness of each student and takes them to right career path. The present mentor-mentee system enables the faculty not only to understand and keep a track of the specific family, personal, educational as well as financial problems of the students but also to provide helping hand as required. The IQAC coordinator channelizes and supervises the whole mentoring programme. The whole mentoring process works in three different aspects- as pre-mentoring, regular mentoring and post mentoring. IQAC has established a well structured mentoring programme for the students as follows-

Objectives:

            1. To provide personal at attention to the problems that the students need help with.

            2. To help students feel connected to the campus

            3. To monitor students academic and overall performance.

            4. To help students improve their study skills.

            5. To help students choose and work towards their career goals.

Pre – Mentoring:

  1. To orient the faculty members towards aim, objectives and scope of such fruitful mentor – mentee programme.
  2. To inform the students about mentor – mentee programme and their role
  3. To instruct the students such a way that they can understand how to take a benefit of such mentor – mentee programme for their overall growth and development.
  4. To channelizes the smooth working the preparation of mentoring form.
  5. Allotment of mentee to the concern faculty members. 

Mentoring:

  1. For a group mentoring the collective grooming of the students has been carried out by organizing workshops, seminars etc. immediately after admission of the students to First year for all the courses.
  2. To know the needs of particular group of students and accordingly inclination of the mentee groups
  3. One to one communication of mentors with each mentee.

Post – mentoring:

  1. The IQAC take a serious note on the grievance of the students collected by the mentor and tries to resolve the institutional grievances through the various committees like internal complaint committee.
  2. The gathered experiences of present mentoring process were understand and analysed by the IQAC and conveyed to corresponding department / committee for further improvement.
  3. The integrated outcome report of mentoring programme of each batch is prepared.

Mechanism:

  1. The mentee and mentor data was collected through offline / online mode from students after allotment of mentors.
  2. Mentor organises a group / individual meetings with the mentee minimum twice a semester. Students can contact to respective mentor any time.
  3. Student progression was recorded accordingly.
  4. For emotional issues, the mentor should have to connect the student with the Psychologist.
